BREAKING: 2018 World Cup: Rohr cuts down Super Eagles squad to 25 players dailypost.ng May 30, 2018 9:59 AM Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has cut down his provisional squad for this summer’s World Cup from 30 to 25 players. Those removed from the squad are: Moses Simon, Dele Ajiboye, Uche Agbo, Stephen Eze and Junior Lokosa. The players will not travel with the rest of the team to London, where Nigeria take on the Three Lions of England on Saturday. After that game, Rohr will drop two more players and then name his final 23-man squad. Team sources claim four players battling for two spots are: Ola Aina or Elderson Echiejile for left-back and Joel Obi or Mikel Agu for central midfield.

Ebele, a goalkeeper, plays for Heartland, who have recently gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League, and was voted player of the season for the former Nigerian champions, as they made an instant return to the Nigerian top flight. The Naze Millionaires topped the Nigeria National League Southern conference with several matches to spare. And the club have now said the main reason for this was goalkeeper Ebele Obi. Club spokesman Solomon Onu said the former Enugu Rangers shot stopper was incredible throughout their promotion campaign in the lower league. Ebele recorded 15 clean sheets in 27 matches in the NNL and he was also the star as Heartland reached the Round of 16 of the Aiteo Cup.
