Meanwhile, the African legend has been honoured for the outstanding qualities and skills he displayed in the German top-flight within four years. Former Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha has been named as one of the German Bundesliga legends. The former Nigeria international joins Ghana legend and Caf deputy general secretary, Anthony Baffoe in the 11-man legends network that will be flying the Bundesliga flag across the world. Okocha joined the Eagles from FC Saarbrucken in December 1991 and went on to provide 13 assists, 18 goals and several memorable moments in 90 Bundesliga matches before moving to Fenerbahce in 1996, due to Eintracht Frankfurt’s relegation to the second tier of the German league.

Ebele, a goalkeeper, plays for Heartland, who have recently gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League, and was voted player of the season for the former Nigerian champions, as they made an instant return to the Nigerian top flight. The Naze Millionaires topped the Nigeria National League Southern conference with several matches to spare. And the club have now said the main reason for this was goalkeeper Ebele Obi. Club spokesman Solomon Onu said the former Enugu Rangers shot stopper was incredible throughout their promotion campaign in the lower league. Ebele recorded 15 clean sheets in 27 matches in the NNL and he was also the star as Heartland reached the Round of 16 of the Aiteo Cup.
