FIFA End-Of-Year Ranking: Nigeria End 2017 As Africa's Best Women's Team Published: December 15, 2017 Football governing body, FIFA, has released its end-of-year international ranking of Women’s National Teams, with the Super Falcons of Nigerian the top ranked team in Africa. In the global ranking, Nigeria have dropped two spots and now occupy the 37th position. Ghana, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and South Africa complete the top five teams in Africa in that order. Nigeria's possible opponents at the 2018 African Women Cup of Nations qualifiers Burkina Faso were not ranked because they have been inactive for more than eighteen months, while Gambia were not listed. United States of America maintained their top spot at the summit, followed by Germany, England, Australia and Canada. The next FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will be published on 23 March 2018. Ebele, a goalkeeper, plays for Heartland, who have recently gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League, and was voted player of the season for the former Nigerian champions, as they made an instant return to the Nigerian top flight. The Naze Millionaires topped the Nigeria National League Southern conference with several matches to spare. And the club have now said the main reason for this was goalkeeper Ebele Obi. Club spokesman Solomon Onu said the former Enugu Rangers shot stopper was incredible throughout their promotion campaign in the lower league. Ebele recorded 15 clean sheets in 27 matches in the NNL and he was also the star as Heartland reached the Round of 16 of the Aiteo Cup.
