The left back, who was getting a rare start for the Belgian side, was first booked in the 17th minute for a deliberate hand ball, before he went out for an early shower five minutes later with a reckless tackle. However, Vitesse were also reduced to 10 men early in the second half for both teams to play a man short. Zulte-Waregem scored in the fourth and 70th minutes to record a vital victory.

Ebele, a goalkeeper, plays for Heartland, who have recently gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League, and was voted player of the season for the former Nigerian champions, as they made an instant return to the Nigerian top flight. The Naze Millionaires topped the Nigeria National League Southern conference with several matches to spare. And the club have now said the main reason for this was goalkeeper Ebele Obi. Club spokesman Solomon Onu said the former Enugu Rangers shot stopper was incredible throughout their promotion campaign in the lower league. Ebele recorded 15 clean sheets in 27 matches in the NNL and he was also the star as Heartland reached the Round of 16 of the Aiteo Cup.
