[Photo credit: Goal.com] One of the biggest rivalries on the African football scene will be rekindled on Sunday in the final of the WAFU Cup of Nations. The Black Stars of Ghana will be seeking revenge against the Super Eagles of Nigeria having lost 2-0 to Coach Salisu Yusuff’s men in the group stage. To get to the final, Ghana edged out Niger Republic in last Thursday’s semi-final while Nigeria beat Benin Republic to the final ticket. Both Ghana and Nigeria have enjoyed past successes in the sub-regional football tournament. While the Super Eagles were winners in 2010, Ghana claimed the 2013 edition. Ebele, a goalkeeper, plays for Heartland, who have recently gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League, and was voted player of the season for the former Nigerian champions, as they made an instant return to the Nigerian top flight. The Naze Millionaires topped the Nigeria National League Southern conference with several matches to spare. And the club have now said the main reason for this was goalkeeper Ebele Obi. Club spokesman Solomon Onu said the former Enugu Rangers shot stopper was incredible throughout their promotion campaign in the lower league. Ebele recorded 15 clean sheets in 27 matches in the NNL and he was also the star as Heartland reached the Round of 16 of the Aiteo Cup.
